The Truth about my job

October 1984

Dear the future or the past

Today, I will write about my job, the most shameful job I ever know. I work at the Ministry of Truth, which concerned itself with news, entertainment, education, and the fine art. That’s how they say about my job, but for me I think my job is to telling the lie to everyone in an educated way. In another words, my job is to change the truth and to hide the government’s sins. Every day at work, I read many terrible things about the party and change them into good things. The more I read about the party, the more I hate this society and my job. I’m the most dangerous criminal of the party; every day after I wake up I begin to lie to the whole nation. I read the truth, but then I keep it to myself and send them the new information that I have created. If someone need to die because they did a really terrible thing, that must be me; I did terrible thing every day in my life. I wish I could tell the truth someday, so I could die in peace.
